We now gather for worship, learning, fellowship, and service at Community Emergency Services (CES) located at 1900 11th Ave. South, Minneapolis: one block north of Franklin Ave. Our first worship service at CES was Sunday, May 6, 2012, as we processed to this new space—in an area where folks face profound economic challenges; a place where diverse races seek to live together; a place, in many ways like the original Augustana of the 1860’s—a place where we are called to share Christ’s love with all.
The Rev. Dr. William Russell
Pastor Bill began his service among us on Thanksgiving Day, 2012. Ordained in 1982, he brings a wealth of experience to us. He has served in pastoral settings in Iowa, North Dakota, southwestern Minnesota, and Georgia. He has also taught in academic settings, both in the USA and abroad. He is married to the Rev. Ann Svennungsen who serves as the Bishop of the Minneapolis Area Synod, ELCA. They have three grown children and a grandson.
